We offer outdoors learning parcours for cultural institutions, schools and families to playfully teach digital literacy skills.
Kids and young people are growing up using smartphones, computers and the internet every day without really understanding how it works. And in every phase of their life they face different challenges and risks reaching into the real world.
Parents, teachers and young people often lack the knowledge, tools and skills to deal with these challenges - the so called digital literacy skills. We teach them about the Internet, consequences of blindly using it and ways to act self-aware responsibly instead.
"The Internet and the use of digital devices are often a topic of controversy in our home. As a mother and teacher, I know how important media skills are - in school education as well as growing up."
- Mother of a 9-year old daugther -
Imagine this: Instead of surfing on your computer, you're transported through a wormhole to an unknown planet. Around you is a dense jungle, from which an mysterious electronic humming can be heard. And then, suddenly, a robot emerges from the woods and presents you with a challenge:
'Can you master the obstacle parcours?', it asks. 'Can you cross the dangerous hot springs and gather clues that lead you to the source of the humming?'
But this isn't just about an adventure in a virtual jungle. This parcours is a special learning path, designed to teach young people the basics of programming and essential media literacy skills in a playful way - all without staring at a screen!
As you navigate through the parcours, you'll find answers to intriguing questions like: How does a computer actually work? How can I stay safe online? And what the heck is JavaScript?
With my educational initiative, Mosaic Lernparkours, I aim to inspire children and teenagers to become enthusiastic about technology from an early age. My own passion for coding and computers ignited when I received an old Windows 3.1 computer at the age of 11. Back then, I attempted to bring to life the program ideas I had previously only drawn, using C++ as my language. From that moment, I knew, 'One day, I'll work in the IT industry.'
Today, many years later, I work as a Creative Technologist at the Berlin-based digital agency, Taikonauten. Together with my fantastic team and our clients, we develop innovative digital products - ranging from web development to artificial intelligence.
For our parkours we collaborate with great people and organizations at our side. They organize the location space and materials or provide funding and strategic support to make this possible.
We develop your individual learning parcours integrated with your pedagogical approach or topical focus.
We grow our team with people who are passionate about education and technology. Find out how what we can achieve together.
We cover the topics of digital sustainability, search engines and filter bubbles. However, each parkour is individually adapted for the target group and adapts to the interests of the participants during the course. At the end of the parkour, participants will be able to calculate their digital handprint, know basic concepts of the internet and be able to apply useful tips in their everyday life (e.g. browser and search settings).
We are currently still in the founding phase. This project is our heart's project and we all work for it on a voluntary basis.
Parkour is suitable for young and old alike. We have had great experiences when children and parents participate and learn together. In the future, we are also planning events for parents and education enthusiasts. Please feel free to contact us.
We work exclusively on a cost-covering basis. This means that there are material costs and possible preparation and follow-up costs of about 150€. If the event is not in Berlin, travel costs will be added. Anything that exceeds the cost recovery (after consultation) will be invested in the further development of the project
